Advances in Bacon Packaging

Oscar Mayer, the inventor of cellophane packaging for bacon, has recently introduced a new kind of bacon packaging. The Stay Fresh Reclosable Tray is made of hard plastic and features a lid that easily snaps on and off. This is one of those inventions that seems long overdue, as regular soft plastic bacon packaging can be messy to work with and leftover bacon must be preserved in a separate airtight container. But thanks to Oscar Mayer, now there is a better storage option for those people who don’t consume an entire package of bacon in one sitting (whoever you may be).

  • It's amazing no one has thought of something like this before.

I usually fold over the open part of a bacon package and then put one or two rubber bands around it to keep it basically closed, rather than transferring to a new vessel.
