Bacon Haters Suck
Following is an email exchange I had with a friend earlier today:

Friend: I met someone that HATES bacon. Like has a passion just as strong as yours, but AGAINST the bacon. This person even said to me, “bacon is what’s wrong with America.”
Me: Are they mentally ill?
Friend: Specifically he was telling me about how when he goes to Chili’s, they have bacon on everything, and then when you ask for it without bacon it’s a 50/50 chance that there will be extra bacon since they are “bacon happy.” The specific example was bacon in clam chowder. And then he said: “clam chowder is clam chowder, there should not be a pig in it.”

This exchange makes me want to head to the nearest Chili's RIGHT NOW for a Smokehouse Bacon Triple-the-Cheese Big Mouth Burger (extra thick-cut applewood smoked bacon triple-layered with smoked cheddar, Swiss and provolone cheeses, sauteed onions, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle, jalapeno-ranch dressing. Served with jalapeno-ranch dressing).

2 things.
1: that poor poor person. I don't see how anyone can hate on bacon.
2: I'm in maine right now, we kinda invented the new england clam chowder. (now, patiently waiting for someone from boston to comment arguing it) Clam chowder up here sometimes contains pork, but you can't get a traditional clam chowder without bacon. Wait, so someone can milk a cow, then churn the milk for a really long time to turn it into a solid conglomeration, then mix it with other cow fats, and serve that, and that's fine. But add a bit of pig and it's blasphemy? I dunno about you, I'd rather eat something that comes off of a pig's hide than something that came out of a cow's nipple, given a one or the other choice.

It's also national pizza month. You know what must be done!
I smell a slow roasted bbq pulled pork pizza in my future.
